The scientific name for a giant squid is “Architeuthis dux”.
Every giant squid has 10 tentacles and they have 2 bigger ones in the back. They have a strong beak. It’s similar to a parrot’s. Their mouth is strong enough to cut through steel cable. They have a torpedo-shaped body and large round eyes. Giant squids have a cone shaped head. They have a large brain and eight suckers around the mouth. Some Giant Squids lose their tentacles so there are only eight tentacles remaining. Some squids may have two fins or more. A basic squid has two fins, a mantle, a head, eight arms and two tentacles.
The length can be 40 feet and the weight can be up to 666 pounds. Each eye is 15 inches or 30 centimeters. It’s the size of volleyball. Their eyes are the biggest in the animal world. Each sucker on its tentacle is 1.5 inches. It takes at least 5 years for them to grow full size.
The giant squid was found in Timble Tickle. They also leave a bubble shape scar on whales. They squirt water through a funnel like organ.
