About Us
We are the Norton Middle School Computer Club. This year, we have two ThinkQuest teams. Our team has chosen the Westward Expansion as our ThinkQuest Topic. We have six team members: Jose, Joe, Gabbi, Kayla, Bryan, and Mason. Our first meeting date was on September 23, 2008. On 11/07/08, we started researching our topics. Jose had The Gold Rush and The Lewis And Clark Trail. Joe researched Law Enforcement, Train Robberies, Cowboys, and Texas Rangers. Gabbi undertook the study of People. Kayla worked on Culture and Tall Tales. Bryan studied The Oregon Trail and The Santa Fe Trail. Mason worked on The Butterfield Express, Leavenworth's and Pike's Peak Express, The Pony Express, and Railroads.
Once we completed our independent research, we learned how to develop a website. While we quickly were able to decide on the design and colors of our site, we were challenged by how much information to include. There were so many things about the Westward expansion that we wanted to cover and not enough time to include them. We ran into our first challenge as a team deciding which aspects of the old West we would have to eliminate from our Thinkquest. For the most part, we functioned well as a team, but we had moments of disagreement that we had to work through. When it came down to the final days of working on our Thinkquest, we came together as a team and produced what we feel is a website that will give other kids our age a good understanding and feel for the Westward Expansion. Jose is very eccentric, and is not particularly normal. His nickname is Lip-gloss. Joe is a very happy, jumpy, hyper person. He loves coffee, and gets sad and depressed when it is gone. Joe's favorite bands are everything except the ones from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. He does not have a favorite book, he loves them all. Joe always has a fashion statement.
Gabbi is so weird that there are no words that can describe her. Kayla's nickname is Helium. Her favorite bands are Linkin Park, Greenday, Bowling For Soup, Paramore, Medic Droid, Sublime, Weird Al Yankovic, Aqua, Simple Plan, Madonna, and many more. Kayla's favorite books are The Gatekeeper series and Alex Rider. Her friends are crazy, and make her feel normal.
Bryan is tall for his age and has hair that stands up on end. He is funny, quiet, and does not like eating barbeque sauce on his side orders. He also likes science fiction and Family Guy.
Mason is a funny person. He likes to eat anything, and has never had food he hasn't liked. He has been playing basketball for years, and loves to use computers. He plays videogames, and likes to hang out with his friends. He listens to old rock classics, and likes Family Guy.
