ICQ and SMS languages are more and more popular nowadays, as people are getting tired of typing long words. Our group members agreed that using ICQ languages can improve our typing speed and is less time-consuming. Although these languages are simple, they can be easily understood. In the modern day world, people are getting lazier and lazier. They moan that time is insufficient to finish their work. ICQ languages can actually help them to be well organized and get things done more quickly.

However, there seems to be a trend of overusing ICQ languages. Over the 20th century, students’ ability to write fluent Chinese and English has dropped. This was due to students’ lack of application and practices in daily life. They use ICQ languages instead whenever they are talking to friends in computers, or verbally. These languages bring us negative effects.

To conclude, ICQ languages bring us convenience to type faster and get things done more efficiently. It is also a mean to show the creativity of teenagers. They wanted to be free and can invent something new, as the owner of the language. On the other hand, these languages may be too convenient that teenagers overuse them as their daily language, causing them difficult to express themselves in formal languages.We should balance the advantages and disadvantages of using these languages and use them in a proper and meaningful way.

Our group members hope to see a world filled with teenagers' creativity but traditional formal cultures are kept as unfading memories.
