Kolis are the pioneers of seafood in Mumbai as well as the rest of India. They use a variety of sea organisms for a number of mouth watering dishes. Their food is tangy and oily in taste due to the presence of kokam(an Indian fruit). The sea organisms they use are varied. Some of them are: 1) Prawns The Kolis of Mumbai held a seafood festival on 31 January at Mahul fishing village in Mumbai. Many people had opened stalls there for serving Koli seafood delicacies at a low rate. Some dishes are: 1) Koli fish curry
