Our team went on a field trip to the Kerala Forest Research Institute Seed Bank. We were amazed to see the collection of forest seeds in different containers. Seeds were sorted and preserved i different containers, even in cold storage. The staff of the seed bank explained to us how the seeds of forest trees are collected and using the sorter it is sorted and stored in different containers. They are tested for quality using different instruments. Some selected seeds are germinate in the seed bank to find out the conditions required. Then they are sorted again, labeled and stored.
