CERN's physicists give information to the engineers of lot of aeras. They made progress especially in the microelectronics with chips, in information technologhy
by creating much more ways of safety and cheap data-storing, and of course in material science they developed a new way of titanium polishing. They also did a lot of discoverys for
medical science. For example some ways of detection can be used in clinics too (eg. PET which is the Positron Emission Tomograph).
CERN do care about the environment with monitoring all ingredients that might have an influence on it. For the citizens of Geneva CERN makes efforts to reduce the
noise pollution of their buildings. The particles during their collosion create radiation, but the amount of it is much less than the radiation in the environment. Even when the LHC
(Large Hadron Collider with its 27km circumference ring) operates, the level of radiation it emisses would be a few percent lower than the natural radiation. However some says
experiments at LHC make such big powers free for eg. cosmic rays which can destroy our planet.
