LIFE: Confucius is the Latin rendering of the chinese philosopher Kung Fu Tzu, which means philosopher king.Conficius was born in 551 BC at Shantung in China. He had to earn his bread from the early age of eight. He kept himself away from all the wordly temptations and lived a simple life. He died at the age of 71.
PHILOSOPHY: Confucius was a famous Chinese philosopher and perhaps one of the most influential figures in the Chinese history. He founded the Confucianism religion, and believed that a ruler should learn self-discipline, should set an example for his subjects and treat them with love and concern. He preached that the five virtues of kindness, uprightness, decorum, wisdom, and faithfulness constituted the whole of the human duty. The philosopher Confucius taught principles of proper conduct and social relationships that embraced high ethical and moral standards. Confucius’s teachings and wisdom were standard scholarly education for the bureaucrats who administered the country. The Confucian tradition, which encompasses education, wisdom, and ethics, still persists in China.
He was an extremely influential philosopher. He believed that only peace could bring about a change in the society. He said,” When anger rises, think of the consequences".
