About Us:

When our team first started, we chose to do a myths web site. We found out that there were too many myths to cover in one web site. So, we chose to focus the Egyptian, Norse, Greek and Roman myths. Then, we found that we had to limit ourselves to only the most important myths. As a team, we chose who got what. There were four of us. Each one took a section of Egyptian, Norse, Rome and Greek.

We all did our research separately, and we would check on each other. Three of us were doing great but one, Gray, had troubles getting his research done. So the team had to reassign that person's work, and that person left the team. The final team members were Jack, Jared and Owen.

We would email and call each other about the research. Sometimes, we would get together, but schedules usually limited us to just two at a time. In addition to our original pieces, Jack put the research into the web site files; Owen did the art, bibliography and About Us; and Jared worked on additional Greek research. All three of us helped cover the missing pieces from the member who left the team. Another friend, also named Owen, offered his original clay sculptures to use for free on our web site.

Jack's Mom is a teacher and found out about this competition. So we checked out all the rules and started working. Our teacher, Ms. Rice, said that she would be our coach. She registered our team, and looked at our final web site. We did all of the work on our own at home. Sometimes we had some computer questions answered by our parents. We did not use any fancy web editors to design our web site. Our site was coded using an html language tool called PSPad, as well as Microsoft Paint and Photoshop Elements.

This was the first web site that we have ever done as a team. Only one person on our team had any experience with web pages. We learned a lot by doing this project. We learned how to design a web site, how to work as a team, how to read something and put it in our own words, how to make a bibliography, how important it is to not plagiarize, and how to edit without spell check. We worked hard to make this, and already have ideas of how to make it even better.

If we did this again, we would start a lot earlier. We did not find out about this until this February, so we spent a lot of time, including weekends and evenings, getting this done. There are a lot of other things we would like to try and learn next time we do this.
