BODY SYSTEMS


Our body is an amazing machine. organs and systems in our body work together to make life possible. Our body has 7 main body systems. Each system has a different , important task. Systems are made of organs. Here are the main body systems.

Circulatory
circulate blood around the body
heart
Respiratory
helps us breathe or get oxygen to our body
lungs
Digestive
breaks down food so that body has energy
stomach
Urinary
controls salt and water that goes out of body
kidney
Skeletal
keeps the shape of the body and protects organs inside body
skeleton
Muscular
helps body move
muscles
Nervous
sends and receives information
brain
The last three systems, skeletal, muscular, and nervous have a lot to do with our ability to control our movement. People who experience physical disabilities often have problems with one or more of these three systems. In order to understand physical disabilities, it is important to understand how these systems work.
