CREATED TO RAISE AWARENESS, CELEBRATE ACHIEVEMENTS
AND TAKE ACTION FOR EQUALITY OF PEOPLE WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES

ORGANIZATIONS

There are many people who are physically disabled . They have different types of disabilities. Often people who support people with disabilities form organizations to help. These organizations provide education, raise money for research or for treatment, and work on making people with disabilities equal and treated fairly. Often, these organizations are formed based on the type of disability. This gives people with same type of disability more support by those who are going through same challenges. Many of these organizations are well known and supported by thousands of people.

For example the  National Multiple Sclerosis Society organizes walks and bike rides all over the United States. They also hold telethons which is when they raise funds using TV. For the entire day they book the TV channel and show performances and give people a way to donate to fundraiser and learn about Multiple Sclerosis. They dedicate a whole week to National Awareness and educate people about this disease. They also have a web site on which people can find any information about MS available.

There are also organizations that raise money for research and educate people how to prevent physical disabilities. Their work helps reduce the number of children born with disabilities or help educate of injury prevention. Some organizations also provide needed equipment and assistive technology.
