Today people with physical disabilities have more opportunities than several decades ago. Many countries have passed laws to protect civil rights of people with disabilities . In addition, treatments for many disorders is improving and doctors are finding more ways to help people with physical disabilities. Finally , technology and science are improving. Therefore, equipment and assistive devices are improving as well. These help people with physical disability overcome limitations.Education is very important for the future. People with good education are able to get better paid jobs so that they can better support their families. But,people with disabilities have not always been treated fairly when in comes to education. Often people with physical disabilities were isolated from their peers. Either they were not provided education at all, or they were placed in institutions and special schools. They did not have an equal opportunity to learn. Also, this treatment removed them from their peers and did not give chance to their peers to get to know them. From the time we are kids, many of us dream of what will we do as adults. We role play and dream of being teachers, doctors or firefighters. We go to school to learn so that we can have careers. All of us know that we will have to work because we want our families to live well when we grow up. But what if we were physical disabilities? Would that limit what we can be? And what accommodations would we need in the workplace? Would our employer want to hire us because of those disabilities? These are some questions people with physical disabilities have to face. Assistive devices help people with physical disability do the same things we do. For example, rams allow them to reach the places we take stairs to go.
