As American citizens, most of us do not realize how many privileges we have, which cause us to take many things for granted. Once our group decided to explore beyond our American borders, our research led us to the current struggle at the Gaza Strip. Our group, Digital Distortion, feels that we should educate other young minds of The Gaza Strip crisis and the conflict between the Hamas and the Fatah and the Israeli Government for this strip of land. We want to inform teens about the government, common information, the war, and history. Our group decided to do our website on The Gaza Strip because we found out that not many people know about it. We realized that it would be an interesting topic to create awareness among the American teenage society. Moreover it would make our peers aware of the situation and motivate them to help with the relief effort by, making others aware of the situation, sending aid, and contacting political officials.

My name is Fanny and I am 17 years old. Currently, I am a junior at Gertz-Ressler High School, which is located in South Central Los Angeles. This is my fourth year in the Upward Bound Math and Science Trio program. In my opinion the most difficult part of completing this website was keeping focus while sorting through the biased information from our sources. As team manager, I stressed over having our content ready, making sure small changes were done and maintaining good communication with my teammates. My group is composed of only three members; and even though we really struggled to come through with the website in the end we managed to work together and complete it. What I really enjoyed was working with my group, getting to learn their style, designing the website and choosing colors. I also liked the fact that I got to use dream weaver, flash and Photoshop, which enhanced my skills as a developer so I could help others with theirs. My group created an incredible website and I learned a great amount of information since there’s always time to learn new things everyday. I really enjoyed working with my group and having an opportunity at the international competition. Who says you can't be beautiful and smart?
