Main Arcs

East Blue Saga

•Captain Morgan arc: Chapters 1-7, Episodes 1-3: Influenced by Shanks, Luffy starts his journey to become pirate king. Soon he meets a sea monster and a pirate named Alvida but defeats them both. Then he meets a boy named Coby who wants to be a Marine. They reach a town controlled by the corrupt Marine Captain, Axe-Hand Morgan, where bounty hunter Roronoa Zoro is being held for attacking Morgan's son.

•Buggy arc: Chapters 8-21, Episodes 4-8: Luffy and Zoro, who has become his first crewmember, reach a town under control by the pirate Buggy and they meet a thief named Nami, who hates pirates.

•Kuro arc: Chapters 22-41, Episodes 9-18: After Nami forms a partnership with the two as their navigator (though she is quick to point out that she is not a crewmate), they reach an island and search for a ship to use. There, they encounter a liar named Usopp, who too has ties to Shanks' pirate crew. When a devious plot involvng Usopp's rival Butler planning to kill Usopps friend Kaya is revealed, Usopp's courage is put to the test and the Straw Hats have to fend off a pirate attack.

•Don Krieg arc: Chapters 42-68, Episodes 19-30: Usopp joins the crew as a sniper and the Straw Hats go to the sea restaurant, the Baratie, in search of a cook for the ship. However, the restaurant comes under attack by the powerful Don Krieg, who has returned from the Grand Line in ruins and wants to use the Baratie to go back.

•Arlong arc: Chapters 69-95, Episodes 31-45: With Sanji from the Baratie joining the crew and Nami stealing the ship, the Straw Hats follow after her to an island under the control of the fish-man pirate Arlong. Nami reveals that she is a member of the Arlong Pirates and simply helped the Straw Hats so she could take their gold later. But why would she follow a man like Arlong? So she can buy her village back from him.

•Buggy Side story: Manga Sidestory chapters 35–75 , Episodes 46-47: Nami officially joins the crew. Meanwhile in the East Blue, Buggy is searching for his body parts when he meets Lady Alvida. Lady Alvida and Buggy plan to destroy Luffy. This is based on a Chapter Title Page Mini-Arc. This arc was skipped in the 4KIDS dub.

•Loguetown arc: Chapters 96-100, Episodes 48-53: The crew heads to the last town before the entrance to the Grand Line--Loguetown, the place where Gold Roger was both born and executed. Not only will they have to deal with a powerful Marine captain, but also returning enemies looking for revenge. There Luffy receives help from an unlikely person.

•Warship Island arc: {Anime Only} Episodes 54-61: After the crew leaves Loguetown, they meet a girl named Apis. Apis takes them to a thousand year old dragon. The crew needs to take the dragon to its home, the island called Lost Island. This arc was skipped in the 4Kids dub.

Baroque Works Saga

•Reverse Mountain arc: Chapters 101-105, Episodes 62-63: The Strawhat crew is at the gate to the Grand Line; known as the Twin Capes island. But they encounter an obstacle as soon as they get in--a giant whale that swallows the entire ship. Most of this arc was skipped in the 4kids dub.

•Whiskey Peak arc: Chapters 106-114, Episodes 64-67: Led by the mysterious Mr. 9 and Ms. Wednesday, the Straw Hats go to Whiskey Peak, where the townspeople immediately start a party to celebrate their arrival. But there is more to this town than there appears.

•Coby/Helmeppo Side story: Manga Sidestory chapters 83–119, Episodes 68-69: The crew escapes from Whiskey Peak and they have a mission to deliver Princess Vivi to Alabasta and to stop Sir Crocodile. Meanwhile in the East Blue, Coby and Helmeppo get selected by Vice Admiral Garp to go to the Marine Headquarters. This is based on a Chapter Title Page Mini-Arc. This arc was skipped in the 4Kids dub.

•Little Garden arc: Chapters 115-129, Episodes 70-77: The crew lands on Little Garden, a huge island that is still stuck in the prehistoric era. However, there are more than dinosaurs on this island, as they find when they encounter two giants that have been dueling for over 100 years and two high-ranking Baroque Works members aswell as Mr 5 and Miss Valentine. This arc was skipped in the 4Kids dub.

•Drum Island arc: Chapters 130-154, Episodes 78-91, Movie 9: When Nami catches an illness that will prove fatal if it remains untreated, the crew is forced to stop at Drum Island, a kingless country that is trying to establish a new government. As they find out, due to the actions of the previous king, Wapol, there is only one doctor left--a "witch" named Dr. Kureha who lives at the top of a mountain. Luffy and Sanji must journey up the mountain, but meanwhile the exiled King Wapol returns to reclaim his country. Here, they meet Tony Tony Chopper, the reindeer doctor who helped cure their illness and fights with them against Wapol and his men.

•Alabasta arc: Chapters 155-216, Episodes 92-130, Movie 8: The Straw Hats, with Kureha's assistant Tony Tony Chopper as a new addition, and Vivi finally arrive at Alabasta, which is on the verge of civil war. Vivi must reach the rebel army and tell them the real cause behind the war, but Crocodile, aka Mr. 0, leader of Baroque Works and one of the Shichibukai, won't just stand by and watch.

Skypiea Saga

•Post-Alabasta arc: Anime Only, Episodes 131-135: The crew tearfully leaves Vivi behind and Nico Robin (Miss. All-Sunday) joins Luffy's crew. This arc chronicles the various misadventures the crew has as their journey. All but one episode was skipped in the 4Kids dub.

•Goat Island arc: Anime Only, Episodes 136-138: After escaping from several Marine ships, the Straw Hats land on an uncharted island and meet an old man named Zenny. Chopper finds out that, because of his bad heart, Zenny probably only has three days to live. Luffy wants to make Zenny's last 3 days perfect. This arc was skipped in the 4Kids dub.

•Rainbow Mist arc: Anime Only, Episodes 139-143: On Ruluka Island, some of the Straw Hats make enemies of the Mayor and his men, who have placed high taxes on everything. Robin, Usopp, and Luffy meet Professor Henzo, who's doing research on the island's rainbow mist, which is a warp in spacetime. As the Straw-Hats and Henzo enter Rainbow Mist, they meet 5 children from Henzo's past.This was the last arc to be dubbed by 4Kids.

•Jaya arc: Chapters 217-236, Episodes 144-152: When a ship inexplicably falls from the sky and the Log Pose starts pointing up, they go to the island of Jaya for information on "Sky Island". There, they encounter Bellamy, a pirate who is heralding a "New Age" where pirates don't pursue dreams, the mysterious and powerful Blackbeard Pirates, and a man named Monteblanc Cricket. This is the first arc to be dubbed by FUNimation.

•Skypiea arc: Chapters 237-302, Episodes 153-195: Riding the Knock-Up Stream, the crew finds themselves in the "White Sea", a sea in the sky. However, things aren't as peaceful as they seem, as there is a war between the Sky People and the natives who originally inhabited the Upper Yard, where the cruel "god" Enel makes his home.

•G8 arc: Anime Only, Episodes 196-206: After their big adventure on Skypiea, Luffy, his crew and the Going Merry fall out of the sky returning to the blue sea. They have bad luck when the ship crashes in the marine base G8.

CP9 Saga

•Davy Back Fight arc: Chapters 303-321, Episodes 207-219: After the crew escapes from the marine base, they encounter Foxy, a pirate who challenges them to a "Davy Back Fight", a series of games where the winner takes crewmates from the loser. If Luffy loses, he loses his crew. Some events were added to the Anime's version of the arc.

•Ocean's Dream arc: Anime Only, Episodes 220-226: In one night, a shadow comes and steals the crew's memory. The only one left who remembers everything is Robin, and tensions rise between the amnesiatic pirates. When they go to a nearby island, they find that everyone there has lost their memories too. Not only will they have to find a way to return their memories, but they have to find the one who took them and stop him.

•Water 7 arc: Chapters 322-374, Episodes 227-263: In search of a shipwright to join the crew and repair the Going Merry, they land at the thriving metropolis of Water 7. When the crew learns they must get a new ship, Usopp is unable to accept the decision and leaves after fighting with Luffy over the ship. Not only that, but the Straw Hats are framed for the attempted assassination of Water 7's mayor and president of the Galley-La shipbuilding company, Iceburg, and discover that Robin is working with the mysterious organization behind the attack.

•Enies Lobby arc: Chapters 375-430, Episodes 264-312: The Straw Hats, Franky Family, and Galley-La team up to rescue Nico Robin and Franky. To do this, they attack Enies Lobby, a government stronghold where CP9 is based, declaring war on the World Government.

•Post-Enies Lobby arc: Chapters 431-441, Episodes 313-325: The Straw Hat Pirates take a break in Water Seven to recuperate after the events at Enies Lobby and the loss of the Going Merry. Amidst their long deserved break, an important figure from Luffy's past appears and makes surprising revelations. Meanwhile on Banaro Island, Ace finally confronts Blackbeard. The Straw Hats get a new ship, the Thousand Sunny, from their newly recruited member, Franky and the resting member that left the crew returns after a sentimental apology.

Florian Triangle Saga

•Ice Hunter arc: Anime Only, Episodes 326-336: After departing Water 7, the Straw Hats head for Fishman Island, but after meeting the woebegone Phoenix Pirates, encounter a patch of sea known as the Frozen Highway, and the family of bounty hunters that live within.

•Thriller Bark arc: Chapters 442-489, Episodes 337-current: The Straw Hats sail into the Florian Triangle, known as the Devil's Sea, where they encounter a living skeleton, named Brook. During the Straw Hats and Brook's conversation, the ship is mysteriously moved inside a spooky ship called Thriller Bark. Inside Thriller Bark resides Shichibukai Gecko Moria, who is stealing shadows to create a zombie army in order to become Pirate King.

Current Saga

•Shabondy Islands arc: Chapters 490-current: The Straw Hats begin to search for a way to get to Fishman Island and meet a mermaid named Camie. She asks them to help save Hachi from the kidnapping gang "Flying Fish Riders", led by Duval, a mysterious man in an iron mask who has a grudge against a member of the Straw Hat crew.
