What is the dimensional wellness model?
The model is referred to as the 6 Dimensions of Wellness. The model
is part of how it makes you feel. It is not only about exercising, but
all the stuff you go through in life. The 6 components are about what
you have and how you can make it better by doing these 6. It deals with
how people connect to their environment and their community.
How many components does it have?
It has six components. The six components are social, occupational, intellectual, spiritual, physical, and emotional.
Why does each component play a role?
Social- The social component is one of the 6 dimensions in the model.
It stands for being social with everybody and communicates with other
people. It mostly has to do with being involved in your society and talk
to others and get to know everybody. Getting to know new people makes
you feel better because you might meet a new friend that will make your
Occupational- The occupational component has to do with working. It has
to do with your attitude at work and how you are while you are working.
The occupational component mostly talks about your skills while working
and how you use them in your working area. Your attitude is one of them
and how you get along in your working area.
Emotional- This component expresses how you share your feelings with
people and how you are around people. Talks about how positive you feel
and how you have different kinds of emotions. Behaviors you have and
accepting the way you feel and learning how to express your emotions.
Spiritual- The spiritual dimension mostly talks about what you come across
in life. How we are existent and how we go through changes in our life.
Like, doubt, despair, fear, and disappointment. The ones you also feel
are the positive feelings like, happiness, joy, and pleasure. These are
what your expected to go through while living your life and growing.
Physical dimension talks about encouraging diet and keeping your body
It discourages the use to drugs,
alcohol, and tobacco.
The optimal wellness is met by maintaining the good exercise and dieting
you should be giving to your body. The physical dimension also talks
about if you follow this path then you’ll know your own vital
signs and how to get rid of illnesses you have.
Intellectual- Intellectual dimension talks about how creative one person can be. Being intellectual you go on a travel path. You go through the path like problem solving, creativity, and learning new things.
