Simple Harmonic Motion

Resonance is the tendency of a system to oscillate at maximum amplitude at a certain frequency. Basically resonance is when a sound wave escalates in sound at a certain time. Some examples of resonance are the acoustical resonance of musical instruments; this is when the sound of the instruments all match the natural vibrations of the oscillations.
Resonance has a very powerful effect on things because it is vibrations that keep things in tune but it can sometimes be deadly. An example in which resonance had a bad effect on society was the Old Tacoma Narrows Bridge that collapsed in 1940. Other examples of resonance are television antennas, tuning radios and blowing over a pop bottle.
Resonance can be shown in tuning forks. They give off vibrations and a tone. How long this tune lasts depends on the impact of the strike. The pitch is also dependent on the force of the hit, on what sort of matter it hit and how hard. Tuning forks are extremely popular with pianists when they tune their pianos.

"Music, even in situations of the greatest horror, should never be painful to the ear but should flatter and charm it, and thereby always remain music."
