Introduction

Recently, as the environment is getting destroyed around the world by man’s actions and the risk of global warming is being made plain; more and more people are making the effort to preserve the environment. Man has started to reflect on his past crimes to the environment and is repenting. Through his actions, hopefully, the unnecessary harm that we are causing to the Earth will stop for good.

What is the environment? The environment comprises of the diversity of living and non-living things that populate and inhabit or exist on Earth. The grasslands, flowers, forests, bio-diversity, and rivers around you are all part of the environment. Man is also part of the environment. All elements and components of the environment co-exist together and have various relationships among each other. Man takes from the environment, but does he give back? Deforestation, pollution, global warming, these are some of the harmful effects that he has brought about.

Fortunately, people around the world have begun to see their own folly, and they are rallying together to help and prevent even more destruction to the environment. Environmental groups such as Green Peace and the World Meteorological Organization have sprung up around the world and are making their presence felt by playing their part. They have goals to raise awareness on the protection of the environment and find solutions to tackle these negative implications.

Globally, more and more people are taking the initiative to make a difference. Progress and improvement has been made, however, it is still insufficient. The rate of destruction is still faster than that of prevention. Man has the power to destroy the environment, but he also has the power to save it. The time for change has come. We all need to take action.

When one thinks about saving the environment, what comes to mind? The three R’s? Green peace? Or perhaps the climate?
