Removing viruses and spy ware.

Another way to keep your computer running smooth with no viruses, or having people monitor your every action is to do weekly virus and spy ware checks. Not only will this keep your computer free of harm but keep it running smooth and fast. There are many anti- virus and spy ware programs out there. I will choose some of the most common to go in to detail on how to run virus scans and spy ware checks.

Norton Anti-Virus

Step 1

  • Start Norton Antivirus.
  • If Norton Anti-Virus is installed as part of Norton Internet Security or Norton System Works, then start that program.
  • Click Options. If a menu appears, then click Norton Anti-Virus.
  • Click Manual Scan.
  • In which file types to scan for viruses, click Comprehensive file scanning (recommended).
  • Check Scan within compressed files. For Norton Anti-Virus 2005, also check Scan active programs and start-up files.
  • Click OK.
Step 2
  • In the left pane of the Norton Anti-Virus display window, click Scan for Viruses.
  • In the right pane, double-click Scan my computer.
Spybot Search & Destroy

  Spy ware is software that secretly gathers information about a user while you navigates the Internet. This can be very harmful to your computers security and your information. This can also slow down your Internet browsing. There are many different programs to delete spy ware. I am going into depth on a program called Spybot Search and Destroy!

  • The first thing you should do is open up Spybot Search and Destroy.
  • Then I want you to update your Spybot Search and Destroy.
  • Click the update button.
  • After you click the update button It will open a window uncheck the marks if checked, and then press search.
  • Once you search, it may find some items for you to download, Make sure you download them all.
  • Once you have updated your Program you should start the search function that says search & destroy
  • fter you click Search & Destroy Hit check for problems.
  • Wait for it to check all you files and then it may find some spy ware. Select all the problems and hit fix the selected problems.
  • Now after you have fixed all the selected problems hit the immunize button.
  • When immunizing it will automatically immunize your computer from cookies.
  • Then once it is done push the check again button
