Starting
The Project
The
Lincoln Memorial has an interesting history. According to "Our States" by Anne
Stokely, the project was supposed to start in
1867,
but it didn't because of lack of funds (Our States n. pag.). The
project
finally started
in
1915. The Lincoln Memorial is located in Washington D.C. The reason for
this famous monument
was to represent freedom. Lincoln wanted equal rights for
everyone. He was the sixteenth president of the United
States. The Lincoln Memorial was finished in May, 1922. It took seven
years
to finish (Our States n. pag.).
