The
Sun's Energy
|
Did you know that the sun
is the greatest energy
source on earth? All life on earth depends on the sun's energy. Without
the sun their would be no
earth.

|
The sun's energy
keeps everyone alive. It gives us food, energy, warmth, light,
water, etc. According to the article "Solar Energy" on Sirs
Discover the sun gives us water when it heats the water and it
evaporates, then it forms clouds which give us new fresh water (par.
1). The
sun's energy doesn't only give life to us but also to animals and
plants.
Without the sun, their would be no life on earth at all. Solar energy
is the source of photovoltaic power. The book Energy Alternatives by
Robert Snedden and the website
www.consumerenergycenter.org/renewable/indexhtml told us that
Photovoltaic power is
a power you get from solar energy to make electricity. In some places
photovoltaic panels have been installed to make electricity for people
to use. When heat transfers through these panels water can be
transfered too.
Photovoltaic power doesn't just make electricity but it can transfer
energy from one place to another. Photovoltaic power is also very
special to us. |
The article "Solar Energy"
on Sirs Discover said the sun's heat is 10,300˚F
(5,700˚C). Without the sun's warmth we would
all be very cold. The sun's warmth is the greatest source of heat in
the universe. The earth's atmosphere absorbs and scatters some of the
radiation that reaches the earth. That's why about only 30% of the
energy
reaches the earth. The intensity at earth's surface is actually very
low because of the great distance between earth and the sun. One way of
capturing the sun's energy is to use solar thermal collectors because
of
thermonuclear fusion deep within the sun. Another way of capturing the
sun's energy is to use flat plate collectors. Flat plate collectors
absorb solar energy and then turns it into heat energy. Everbody can
live with the sun's energy around.

With everything you read here,
you know that we need the sun to live. It provides us everything
we need to live including water, warmth, energy, food, and light.
Imagine what life
would be like with out the sun.
