About the team
We are a group of students aged 14 (as of 2008) from Raffles Institution, Singapore. We were brought together to do this project with a common passion and interest of web-designing and infocomm technology. We have worked together since November 2007 to March 2008 to put together this website. Our team comprises of Edward, Irvin, Gao Ming and Sudeep. Our teacher-mentor is Mr Jee Jia Woei.
Edward is our team's main graphic designer, he has contributed to most of the graphical interface and design of the website, such as the banner. He also has experience in graphics in public forums. Edward aspires to work in the field of graphic designing in the future.
Irvin is our team's main coder and programmer. He has around 4 years of web design experience. He knows many programming languages, namely HTML, CSS, Javascript, VBScript, C, C++, ActionScript, although his main strengths lie in HTML and CSS. Irvin aspires to become a web designer in the future.
Gao Ming is one of our team's major content contributors. He has contributed a larger fraction of the information. He also has a little experience in web designing, and sometimes helps Irvin in the coding. Gao Ming aspires to work in the field of IT in the future.
Sudeep is also one of the team's content contributors. Sudeep has also helped Edward in the designing part of the project, contributing to the design and feel of this web page, giving colour schemes and design ideas. He also has a little experience in web designing and aspires to work in the field of IT in the future.
Our Reflections
Throughout the course of this project, we have stayed up late on many days, gone through many problems and went through many heated arguments, which has all resulted in the end product - this website. We have spent the last few months putting our heads together discussing and went through many nights figuring out technical problems, and our efforts have not gone to waste.
The website you are viewing now is a result of how we have worked together, grown together, had fun together, and of course, created this website together. We have learnt the importance of teamwork and unity and how we cannot simply break apart. Through past experiences, we have became furious at each other many times and wanted to do the work without that single person. But we realised, how we needed everyone to chip in.
We have also learnt the importance of time management. At boys our age (as of 2008), we tend to procrastinate a lot. Although we had many painful experiences of not being on task, we are still going through this learning stage, and we are gradually learning to stop this bad habit.
As a whole, we feel that this project has enabled to know each of us better and work as a team better.
Why Globalisation?
At the time of publishing this website, globalisation was quite a hot topic in the news. We decided that someone had to inform the public about the various causes and the effects, and the pros and the cons of globalisation. Globalisation also caught our interest as it was something we could relate to, for example, most of us believed that branded things were generally better, and most of us went to fast food outlets that are world-reknowned, for example, McDonald's, quite often. We were curious about the topic, and what better way to further our knowledge on the topic than to do a research on it? Thus we embarked on this ThinkQuest Project, hoping to gain more knowledge and share it with others.

We have tried our best to minimize the usage of memory-intensive components in out website such as Flash, Javascript and so on. This is so as to have a broader support for readers who do not have the priviledge of having a fast enough internet connection. However, it was still necessary to use them in some parts, such as the Flash games.
