What does what you want to memorize mean to you? If it was meaningful it'd be way easier to memorize. But the fact is - not all things are meaningful.
That's why we have to make them meaningful. How? With our imagination! We can break down the words, we can make a rhythm, we can make it funny, we can do anything to make it more meaningful to us. That way it'd be so much easier.
Now, we associate it, if there are many links needed to be made, with our imagination as well! How we associate it, maybe by creating a story, would let us memorize even more easily.
Whatever the form is, ultimately it goes down to these two - imagination and association.
This applies to daily life as well - For example, you want to remember to attend a meeting at 1pm, and then finish a PowerPoint presentation by 5pm. First you associate the meeting with paper (paperwork), then the presentation with a computer. Then you link them up to form: There is a lot of paperwork in a computer.
