Basic Implementation: Getting Started

In these Getting Started pages, we seek merely to point you in the right direction. Learning any of these technologies is a time-consuming task—though one that is well worth it for some people. We aim to introduce you to some of the basic technical concepts, show you some of the software you’ll need, and point you in the right direction so that you can find further resources. We’ll assume you have some basic familiarity with HTML and how web pages work for this section, as all of these technologies build on that.

Also, all of these technologies profiled are used professionally. Even though this is the case, we have, in order to comply with the ThinkQuest rules and with what we believe are the desires of most of our visitors, limited our profiles solely to technologies and software that one can begin using entirely for free. To put it more clearly: we are not endorsing the sale of any product or service, because we are not profiling any products or services that are for sale. Furthermore, we are not endorsing any one of these technologies in particular, but rather profiling them for educational purposes, so that you can become a better webmaster and web user.

If you have a computer and an internet connection, you can begin exploring these exciting technologies. Bon voyage!
