How many starving people could be fed if inhabitants of Sosnowiec wouldn’t waste bread?
How many kilos of bread does a man eat average per year?
How many kilos of bread do inhabitants of Sosnowiec waste?

Assumptions:

  • Bread weighs 600 kg
  • Every fourth man in Sosnowiec wastes 1/9 annual demand for bread
  • Amount of inhabitants of Sosnowiec– about 226034

Calculation:

A man eats about a half f loaf of bread every day
½ loaf of bread = 600 : 2 = 300 g
300 g * 365 days
300 * 365 = 0,3 * 365 = 109,5 » 110 kg a year

A man waste a half loaf of bread every year
1/9 * 110 kg
1/9 * 110 » 12 kg
Inhabitants of Sosnowiec

Eat
226 034 * 110 = 24 863 740 kg a year

Waste
226 034 : 4 = 565085
565085 * 12 » 678102 kg
678102 : 110 » 6165
