History of the motion picture camera:

Many people made inventions that were movie cameras, but a man from France named Louis Lumiere made a portable camera and he is known for it.  He invented a portable camera.  It was a camera that was called the Cinematographer. Three different functions were covered in one invention

His invention began the movie making time.  Lumiere and his brother were the first to show moving pictures to a live audience of more than one person in 1895.

They are not the first to show film, the Edison Company showed the Kinetoscope, which allowed one person at a time to see moving pictures.  Later in 1896, Edison showed his improved Vitascope projector and it was the first successful, projector in the U.S.
