- In your opinion, could schools be greener? Should they?
Yes, they could and should - How 'green' is your college?
I go to the Boswells College and we are working towards our bronze Eco Schools award.
We also have a recycling scheme in place. - What is the YEA's view?
We believe that schools and colleges should be greener and we are trying to help. When we were elected as members of the YEA, the young people voting highlighted the environment as one of they key issues they wanted us to deal with, which is why we set up the environment subgroup. - What is the YEA doing in regard to this issue?
The environment subgroup of the YEA has set up its own eco award - the 'YEA Green Pledge'.
The pledge is being launched on the 7th of February at County Hall in Chelmsford and it sets 10 goals for schools to start their eco journey. For every goal that they achiever they are awarded a green star. The YEA itself always uses recycled materials and premotes recycling at all opportunities
- Do you think the Counicl could do more?
Yes. They could help co-ordinate recycling for schools across the county.
They could also offer greater financial incentives for schools taking the 'green' route. - Important messages for the site
