Drug Addiction Treatment: Treating Addiction to Marijuana

So far, no medications are available to treat marijuana abuse.  Research on neural receptors has revealed the possibility of blocking THC’s intoxicating effects.  By preventing THC from binding with certain neural receptors, the medication can deny the user the high they get from smoking.  This method can be effective in treating addiction however how to stimulate recovery from raised emotion thresholds and damaged brain cells is still unknown.
