Not enough physical activity

Children getting physical activity in their lives is crucial and must be incorporated into their everyday lives. They must be able to work off some of the food (energy) they consume to have a healthy body and lifestyle. There are some reasons why physical activity in children is not happening…………

  • Children watch too much television making it an addiction and not making it a priority to go outside and exercise.

    Possible Solution- Limit television use to one hour a day, then introduce your child to different activities and find one they enjoy. Enroll them in a team to push their interest even more and also to help them practice.

  • Children spend their time inside during school recess not giving them time to exercise three main times during the school day.

    Possible solution- Create a compromise with your child telling them that they can stay inside during one of their three recesses they receive, allowing them to receive physical activity two recesses a day.

  • Your after school activities base around things that don’t involve physical activity.

    Possible solution- Walk to the after school activities with your child to get more exercise. If the after school activities are far away, take public transit and walk to the bus stops.

  • You go everywhere by motorized vehicle and don’t take walks even to places that are close by.

    Possible solution- This solution is simple. Start taking walks with your kids to enhance their physical activity.
