Building the website began in October 2007. During the past 6 months, we have obtained data through sharing of personal experiences, interviews, questionnaires and internet research.
Firstly, we obtained data to explain the situation of the Left-Behind Children. All of the data such as the number and distribution of children officially came from the latest authoritative report:“Survey on current situation of left-behind children in China”.
Secondly, we enumerated the reason why 58 million Left-Behind Children exist in China, as well as analyzed why in Western Countries this situation doesn’t exist to the same extent. The information came from questionnaires and interviews with parents of Left-Behind Children and interviews with some international friends and professors. We also used the Internet to gain information.
Thirdly, based upon the website information and personal experiences in Mount Jinggang, Jiangxi, China, we describe the ubiquitous Left-Behind Children problem in 3 ways: lacked affection, education, guidance and protection.
Finally, we made some suggestions to the parents, society and government. We hope that our suggestions can help the Left-Behind Children have a better life and some happiness during their childhood years.
Due to the limitation of time, our research was localized, and consequently our data, conclusions may not be perfect, but we sincerely hope that through our research, people will come to know more about the Left-Behind Children and be moved to give them more help and affection.
