Sweden
Sweden is located in northern europe. This beautiful country is
slightly larger than California with a population of 8,878,085 people.
The temperatures are obviously cold, especially in the winter. The Swedish flag is a blue flag with a yellow cross.
This
country's currency is Krona. One amazing fact is that Sweden has stayed
out of war for 150 years. During World War 2, Sweden was a nuetral
country.
The main language is -not surprisingly- Swedish. The main religion is
Christian, though Judaism, Buddhism, and Muslim also exist there.
Sweden has over 2,052 km of waterways.
Speaking
of waterways, have you ever heard of the famous Vasa Ship? This large
vessel was built for the king, Gustavus Adolphus, from
1626 to 1628. It
first set sail on August 10, 1628. This magnificant piece of art was a
warship. You see, King Gustav wanted the grandest ship possible.
The problem
was, this ship was too top heavy. After only 1 mile it fell over,
sinking to the bottom of the bay. Amazingly, this ship was surfaced on
April
24, 1961. Most of the ship was
still intact. Today, the Vasa ship is located at the Vasa Museum in
Stockholm, Sweden. Many of it is the original
wood is still intact, though of course some new wood had to replace the rotten wood. You MUST go see this magnificant ship!
