What is the Waterloo Partnership? The Waterloo Partnership was founded in 2005, following the brutal civil war in Sierra Leone. The people of Waterloo, a little town near the capital Freetown, are struggling to recover from that war. Like us, they want a peaceful and prosperous future for themselves and their children. By working with them, in partnership, the charity brings together the people of Waterloo, Sierra Leone and Waterloo Merseyside. The logo was created to show the link between Waterloo England and Waterloo Sierra Leone. The Green stands for our agricultural resources. White stands for unity, peace and justice that binds us together. Blue stands for our ocean and natural harbour. The cotton tree stands in the middle of Freetown, Sierra Leone. It was planted as a symbol of freedom when the slaves returned home. The charity was established in September 2005 after a visit to Sierra Leone by Claire Curtis Thomas (MP of Crosby), Kathleen Zimak, Teresa McLouglin and David Moorehead who is a teacher at Sacred Heart Catholic Collge.
