Leptin

Leptin is the hormone that controls appetite. It was discovered in 1994 and was named after the Greek word that means thin. It is made in fat cells and after it enters the bloodstream it goes right to the part of the brain called the hypothalamus.

The hypothalamus is the part of the brain that tells us we are no longer hungry and controls our appetite. Sometimes we ignore the signal that is telling us we are full and this can make us overweight because we eat when we are not hungry.
