Cardiovascular Disease
Cardiovascular Disease or CVD is a disease that affects the heart and blood vessels. This can cause heart attacks and/or strokes and kills many people in America. About 1 million Americans die from Cardiovascular Disease a year. It doesn't just kill elderly people, it kills many people around the age 35-65. A buildup of fat makes the veins smaller so less blood flows through the body. People who are obese have double the risk of Cardiovascular Disease. You get extra cholesterol from animal foods like eggs, meat and dairy products. If you are overweight or your Mom or Dad have high cholesterol, you might need a blood test to see if your cholesterol is high. If children are overweight they are at risk for getting heart disease, which may affect them when they are older.

The total cholesterol level for adults is less than 200 milligrams-DL. For children and teens it is 170 milligrams-D

The ways to prevent this are: losing weight, eating small amount of animal fats, exercising and most importantly not smoking.

CVD is the #1 killer
disease of America.
