Egyptian Cinderella

Rhodopis, meaning "rosy cheeked", was kidnapped from Greece and was taken across the Nile River. She was sold as a slave when she got to Egypt. She looked different from the other house servants. Unlike them, she befriended animals. They would tease and make fun of her. They made her do all the work. Her kind and old master gave her a pair of red-rose gold slippers since he thought she was a goddess and she deserved a reward. One afternoon, the servant girls learned about a court that was being held by the pharaoh. One of the servants told her that she couldn't go since she had too much work to do. She had a hippopotamus as a friend that she would sing to. But, when Rhodops ag to him that day, he splashed water on her golden slippers. When she finished cleaning her shoes, she put it behind her and continued doing the rest of her chores. The god Horus came down from the sky as a falcon and stole her shoes. When he reached the pharaoh, he gave the pharaoh the slippers. Since they were bright, he thought it was a part of the sun. Then he realized that it was a gift from the god Horus telling him who his perfect wife would be. The pharaoh immediately went out to find whoever's foot could fit into the slipper. Many girls tried the slipper on, but none of their feet fit the slipper. He went out by the Nile River, and found the last house. All of the sevant girls tried the slipper on, even though they knew who's it was. None of their feet would fit in the slipper. The pharaoh then saw Rhodopis and asked her to try the slipper on. She tried it on andd it fit perfectly,so she became the queen.
