All living things need air to survive; it's something that will give us life!
Breathe in, is it clean?
Or does it smell like a rubbish bin!
Air pollution occurs when the surrounding air contains gases, dust, fumes or odour in harmful amounts. Harmful amounts meaning they could be a threat to the health or comfort of humans and animals or which could cause damage to plants and materials.
Do all of us cause air pollution?
Yes! You may be wondering why, but in actual fact, all of us are contributing towards air pollution! We cause air pollution when we use transport, electricity and house fuels and should be aware of how to continue maintaining our clean and green environment.

Fossil fuels
Most of this air pollution we cause is the result from the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil, natural gas, and gasoline. These gases which are released during the burning will pose a threat to our health if we inhale too much of it.

Factories and Industrial Sites
Factories and industrial sites also emit large amounts of harmful gases to our environment while producing the goods that we consume. This is how we contribute to air pollution indirectly.

Car emissions
Every day we travel to many destinations, to school, work and this results in car emissions being another heavy emitter of harmful gases as it is commonly used all over the world as a mean of transport.
