"The world’s environmental problems are greater than the sum of those in each country. Certainly, they can no longer be dealt with purely on a nation-state basis...
The challenge ahead is for us to transcend the self-interests of our respective nation-states so as to embrace a broader self-interest -- the survival of the human species in a threatened world."
-- Hon. Tom McMillan, 1986
There is few, if any, that would argue against the proposition that it is necessary to the goals of international community that issues of the environment have to be addressed, and that it is in the interest of all to protect and preserve the environment of planet Earth, on which all life, including human life is dependent.
What is environmental health?
"Those aspects of human health and disease that are determined by factors in the environment. It also refers to the theory and practice of assessing and controlling factors in the environment that can potentially affect health."
