Welcome
Beluga Sturgeon
stergeon

The Beluga Sturgeon is a large predator that feeds on fish even though it is a fish itself.  The word beluga comes form the Russian word for white.

It can grow to an amazing 28 feet and weigh a massive 5,490 lbs.  This makes it the world’s largest freshwater fish.

The Beluga Sturgeon fish eggs are considered a delicacy.  Beluga caviar is very famous and one of the reasons why it is becoming endangered.

Again the Beluga Sturgeons habitat is declining due to water pollution and humans taking over areas of the wild.  Another reason for its decline is that fishermen consider it a huge prize to catch one.  Not all fishermen are as careful as Mr. Jenson and return their catch to the water.
