The first Broadway Production was
called The Beggar's Opera. It was by Walter Murray and Thomas
Kean's traveling theatrical troupe at the
Nassau Street Theatre on Dec. 3rd, 1750.
The Beggar's Opera was a five performance run of John Gay's
British ballad opera.
Manhattan's 11- block strip from 53rd to 42nd streets between 6th and
8th which the Avenues are called the Great White Way and is home to over
40 theatres.
