This is said to be a time which shaped the world in a way. War always sees young, valiant men full of pride, stride to the battlefront, ready to fight for their convictions, and all the ammunition in the world and months of rigorous training would prove futile in a matter of seconds if the enemy battalion came to know their vulnerability. And during the World Wars, a troop's biggest strength and weakness lied in their ability to encrypt messages.
Many a troops, faced defeat the hard way when cryptic texts concealing information on their plan of attack were intercepted and deciphered by the enemy. This period also saw innovation at its pinnacle, as many cryptomachines from the SIGABA to the PURPLE were devised. This timeframe also introduced the world to the Enigma, which baffled the most gifted cryptographers for almost 14 years.
