What the Team Says...

Mark

My name is Mark, and I have a passion for football. I support Man Utd, and also play football for my local team Bleak Hill Rovers.

I have found doing this project a lot of fun. I only joined the project half way through it, but still have thoroughly enjoyed doing it. I joined the project as I was told about it by my team leader Miss Woods. I know my team members from school as they are part of the school web team which I work with regularly. I have enjoyed working as part of a team, with my friends from my school, and friends from our partner school in India (which we met because of the project). Working with the school in India has benefited me in a number of ways, including learning about different cultures. At the beginning I did not know much about the internet, and was not sure on whether it was a good topic to choose, but now I think completely the opposite.

I think the people in my group have been fantastic. Craig has helped us immensely with his knowledge of flash, Miss Woods our team leader has helped with her knowledge of everything, and so have the girls in India with their tireless attitude. Everyone has worked as a team, and has done a fantastic job. I think I have helped, with my video editing on the apple mac, and also my writing skills for the some of the pages. We have used a lot of different technologies, including dream weaver and iMovie HD. If we enter the competition next year I would do it more a less the same except I would leave ourselves a bit more time at the end so it’s not such as rush! But I would definitely do it again though!

Lasya

I am Lasya studying in Kendriya Vidyalaya N.A.D, Visakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. My interests include knowing much about the universe, listening to music, drawing and painting. Our assistant coach Mr Rajender played an important role in my involvement in the project. The topic inspired me to know much about the internet. I enjoyed surveying my teachers on how and what they use the internet for. It was great interacting with some of my team members who are from England. I now know much about their interests, etc.

I really enjoyed working on the project. I have made a number of friends on think.com from various countries while working on the project. I would surely enter the project next year. I thank thinkquest for introducing such a project which aims at extracting the ideas and creativity of each participant.

Surya

I am Surya of Kendriya Vidyalaya NAD Visakhapatnam, India. I have a sister too who has also participated in think quest competition. My hobbies include reading story books ,dancing, singing etc. I got into this project because of my coach, Mr.Rajender who had a keen interest in the internet. Our team includes members of India as well as UK. I enjoyed a lot working in collaboration with my UK friends. With the sincere and hard work of the team as well as coaches, our project has developed successfully.

I liked the topic very much and it was a wonderful choice! I enjoyed collecting information from various sites, libraries and organizing it. Many technologies were used to design the web site and I also got acquainted with them. The responsibilities were shared between all of us. I learn t a lot from this project i.e. web designing, research and many more. I felt very happy about this, as think quest has done a very good job by enhancing the creativity of each child.

This project was my first experience in web designing and I would definitely take part next time with full enthusiasm from the beginning!

Bhavya

My name is Bhavya, I am from Kendriya Vidyalaya NAD Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh,India. I have learnt classical dance Kuchipudi from six years and I have got an award. I also love swimming, skating, singing as well as art. I have a little sister called Kavya. She is doing another project which she has been doing equally well in.

When our S.U.P.W Mr.Rajender told us about a project I was very exited. I got into the project because of our main coach Miss Joanne Woods who is from Rainford High School U.K and our assistant coach was Mr Rajender who is from Kendriya Vidyalaya N.A.D. They have both been very friendly to us. They have helped us each and every step of the way. They have been very encouraging and helped us a lot. I really thank them because this project helped me in many ways. It has improved my computer skills, and has helped me to explore the world. All of my team members Craig, Mark, Surya, Lasya were so cooperative. I enjoyed their company and I think that we have got real team spirit. With the help of this project I now know everything about internet. In school we conducted a survey. This helped me to know the opinion of other people who were using the internet. It also helped me to understand my team members from the U.K as I now known their opinions about the Internet and how they use it in everyday life. The whole experience was really fantastic, superb and excellent.

In the future if I get chance I would surely participate in such projects. My last thanks go to Oracle Think Quest for conducting such projects where we get to know so many people all over the world and we can explore our Talents. I really have had a very nice time and learnt many things. I would once again like to thank Miss Woods and Mr Rajender for treating us so well. Thank you.

Craig

My name is Craig. I attend Rainford High School. I play football for Millfields JFC, my local team. I got involved in the project because I work with Miss Woods on the school website.

I have enjoyed participating in the project. The project has given me the chance to find out how the internet works, which was interesting to find out. I had a great knowledge in computers before the project. I also understood how to control them, and how they worked. For the internet I just knew how to control it, but not fully how it worked. The project has taught me a lot.

The project has given me a chance to communicate with a school from India, a privilege I wouldn't have without the internet. Only now do I fully realise and accept how powerful the internet really is.

In the project my jobs were to build the website itself, and to make the flash quiz and introduction. These tasks I enjoyed. If I was to do the project again, I would prepare myself better and start working on the project earlier, as we didn’t leave ourselves quite enough time. It was a struggle to get everything finished on time. In the end the team made it and we have produced a fine website with lots of information.

Finally, I would like to thank Miss Woods for Coaching the team and helping me. I would like to thank Mark for working with me throughout the school holidays to get the work done. I would also like to thank Lasya, Bhavya and Surya for writing lots of content for each page. My thanks also goes to Mr Rajender for being the Assistant Coach the team, helping us to communicate and for working extra hours to do all this. My final thanks go to Oracle, and the creators of Think.com and ThinkQuest. Thank you for making all of this possible. You have been great.

Hi, my name is Miss Woods and I work at Rainford High Technology College as a web manager. In this role I work with a student web team on the school website, creating, editing and developing content, Craig and Mark are part of this team.

Craig has worked on the school website for nearly three years, he approached me to get involved with the project as coach and I gladly accepted the invitation. We were both really excited to get a response from Mr Rajender in India and soon we were introduced and chatting to his students Lasya, Bhavya and Surya. Mark became interested in the project and was added to the team a little bit later.

To have the opportunity to work with our team from India was a great experience. We soon became used to arriving at school early in the morning and looked forward to seeing new instant chat messages arrive. It has been an important learning experience and one which we hope will grow and develop into the future.

Using the think and thinkquest online resource has been a valuable way of finding our team members, communicating with them and organising our projects research and content. The environment felt a safe place to be and allowed our team to trust each other and work together.

I have enjoyed providing technical support, guidance and encouragement to the team whenever it was needed. The team have impressed me with their commitment, enthusiasm, professionalism and willingness to work long hours. Craig has been brilliant developing and designing the website while Mark, Bhavya, Lasya and Surya have been excellent researching and writing content. Mark has enjoyed using his skills as an interviewer and video editor while Bhavya, Lasya and Surya have shown a great creative energy in developing ideas. Mr Rajender has been essential to forming and developing the group and has provided much guidance, suggestion and support.

Creating a multi-cultural team is what has made this project so exciting and worthwhile. It is definitely an experience to remember!
