The internet is a network but its more than just one system; it’s actually a huge constantly developing network of networks. Whenever you log into the internet you are connecting and becoming part of the thousands and thousands of networks which currently exist.

No one owns or runs the internet so in theory there are no barriers and it is based on a sharing open attitude for example programmers share code, people share opinions and computers share files and resources. Unfortunately people also share inappropriate information but that’s another story.  Information and data over the internet has been made available for public consumption like never before.
