Art
African art has evolved with the times and changes in Africa and more so in South Africa. Through the influence of europe and the americas, african art has become modernised and internationally acclaimed.
Artists who before enjoyed no exposure now suddenly find critisism and compliments from an international art lover. Some artists in Africa:
- Abdoulaye Konate (Mali) - In 2002 he received the Chevalier d'Ordre National du Mali award and the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de France award for his contemporary artwork.
- Sokari Douglas Camp (Nigeria) - Steel sculptures that illustrate the relationship between africa and the western world.
- Dilomprizulike (Nigeria) - "Junkman of Africa" - Creates art from junk in a junkyard.
- Samuel Fosso - Self Portrait Photographer focussing on african and american people.
- Tracey Rose (South Africa) - Political and labelled "Crazy Art" artwork that keep you bound because of its uniqueness and wonderful colors.
- Ibrahim El Salahi (Sudan) - The Godfather of African Modernism.
