Racism in America

Racism in America has a deep history and plantation. After about two centuries after slavery in America, it is hard to believe that it still has such a scaled presence all over the continent in many areas such as, employment, housing, education and government. Most racism issues are dealt with by ethnic groups seen as 'unbelonging'. These groups include African Americans, Native Americans, Asian Americans and other immigrant party. It all began during the colonial era, where Housing for racism began with slavery (African American), settlement, Indian reservations, segregation, residential schools (American Indians), and internment camps. After slavery was stopped by President Abraham Lincoln, almost all African Americans went to live south through fear which was a major drift or separateness. Even after slavery, discrimination went on America through people and parties like Jim Crow and the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), whom carried on showing criminal actions against people of color. The KKK lives on even today, indicating the widespread of racism activity still carrying in the America. During the 20th Century, countless attempts were made to demolish racism in people mind through civil right movements. Many leaders and legends contributed in making America a colorblind nation. These heroes would include Phillip Randolph, President Franklin D. Roosevelt and most legendary pastor and activist, Martin Luther King Jr. who through many struggles and protests, finally led the country to its Civil Rights Act of 1964. This was a great moment for all race groups in America, and a further step forward in harmonizing the races. This also opened a lot of doors for people of color. However, due to lack of education and poverty, most of these people struggled to catch up to mental state of the whites in America. This leaving many black people poverty stricken, and in crime to this date. Today, the Americans are in understanding and respectful of one another's back rounds, but sadly, you still hear of a lot of racism and doubt in a another race. Will anyone ever move on then?

West Coast- America:

Racism was huge in most parts of the pacific states, most of it directed to resident Indian and Latino people and Asian immigrants. Laws were even made discriminating against the Asians, to such an extent that the Chinese and several other minority groups were banned from entering the United States. This all stopped about 50 years ago, but hate crimes carried on till today. Ethnic groups are still treated like outsiders and immigrants even worse see xenophobia page.
