• Taman Sari water Castle

Yogyakarta is a heritage city. Here, you can found cultural heritage. Until now, these are being kept. The most extra ordinary thing is the kingdom which now it is still exist with the building “Kraton” that means palace. One of some heritages of the kingdom is Taman Sari Water Castle. This place is located about 2 kilometers south of Kraton Yogyakarta . it was built by Portuguese architect based on Europe construction blend with the Javanese ornaments. So, it has very elegant and exotic building.

Taman Sari Water Castle is used to be for the recreation place and resting place for the king and his family. It has some beautiful garden, some rooms, some bathing pools, swimming pools and canals. At the past time, Taman Sari Water Castle also used to be the place for taking a bath.

There are some parts in Taman Sari:
1. Scared Room
This room is used to be the room where King and his family hermit. So, it is considered scared by the people.
2. The Bathing Pool
In his place, King and his family usually took a bath and swam. So, it's fulfilled by the water.
3. Kenanga or Cemeti Island
This part is including Kenanga or Cemeti Island, Sumur Gemuling and some building underground.

Since this place was a recreation place and bathing place, so most parts of the building were covered by water. And the building reaching the surface called island. In the past time, the king and the family usually went by small ship. However, now it is not used as the bathing place anymore. It just use as the recreation place.
