The Yak lives in the Himalayan regions of central Asia. They are dark brown with long hair. They weigh up to 2,200 pounds. They have a shoulder height of 605 feet. The Yak lives in groups called herds. They are in the bovine family, meaning they are in the same family group as cows. They are herbivores, meaning they only eat plants. There are 12 million left, but that doesn’t mean that they are not endangered. That is only half of what of their population used to be.
