It hunts for food under the water with its eyes and ears closed, and uses its highly sensitive bill to detect food. The male platypus can give off enough venom to kill an average sized dog. The platypus is an omnivore, meaning it eats both plants and animals. They are endangered because of the destruction of their homes. They live up to 15 years in the wild.
