Males weigh about 90 pounds, and females weigh about 70 pounds. There are only 100,000 to 200,000 left in the wild. In captivity, Chimpanzees live up to 60 years, but in the wild they live up to 50 years. They can be spotted in 21 different African countries. If a Chimpanzee could chose where it wanted to live, it would chosea rainforest oppose to a wide open savannah. They eat a wide variety of foods including fruits and insects. Chimpanzees live in groups of 6 to 7 individual monkeys. The more familiar name of a chimpanzee is a chimp, which is obviously a shorter version of the longer one. |
