It's PayPal. Watch Out!

The most common form of Phishing is via E-mail. The "Phisher" pretends to be a "legitimate retailer, bank, organization, or government agency."(fraud.org) The "Phisher" asks you to click on the link they provide. When it takes you to their look-alike site they ask that you Update your personal information. Really what they want you to do is put in the information they ask so that it can go into their database. With that information they can go to the really site you thought you where going to, and steal your money.

The Anti-Phishing Working Group states that in March of this year, there were 2870 active 'phishing' sites.

There are alot of Phishing sites as you can see. But there are many more people that get scammed by each of these sites!

Avoid being a victim

http://www.fraud.org says, "Don't click on links within emails that ask for your personal information. Fraudsters use these links to lure people to phony Web sites that looks just like the real sites of the company, organization, or agency they're impersonating. If you follow the instructions and enter your personal information on the Web site, you'll deliver it directly into the hands of identity thieves. To check whether the message is really from the company or agency, call it directly or go to its Web site "

Another important thing to keep in mind is to NEVER type ingormation into a Pop-Up Window. That is bad because Professional sites tend not to use Pop-Ups. You should install a Pop-Up blocker to keep this from even being a temptation.
