Our Team

We have five members on our team and two coaches; Mrs. Gorman and Mrs. McArdle-Abinette. We have had a lot of fun working and getting to know each other. There are three girls and two boys, three 6th grade girls and two 5th grade boys on our team. We learned how to use Flash, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver, and we learned how to research a topic. James has become a wonderful typist, even though when we asked him to join our team he said he types too slow… and now he is up to speed with everyone, We learned a lot about Special Education and all the pros and cons about inclusion in education..

We learned how to research and work together as a team; we voted on our team name and topic too. All decisions were voted on as a team. We spent every Tuesday and Wednesday from January until the end of March working after school each day, and a lot of time during class and at home too. We started a little bit late because we didn’t find out about the competition until late December. We were all very excited from day one. If asked if we would do this again, the answer would be yes as long as we started earlier. We would like to thank our coaches for all the hard work, dedication and time they put into teaching us about making a website and learning to work together as a team. We couldn’t have finished without them.

Savannah

Hey, I’m Savannah. I’m 12 years old. I love to text and play the guitar .But when it comes to technology I couldn’t have said yes faster. Flash is my thing and Dream Weaver isn’t so bad!! So for your information I guess you can say I’m a computer nerd.

I don’t know about you, but I’m attached to the computer. In fact, my mom insists that the computer is my long lost sister!!! I also love the beach, and beach volleyball is so cool. I can also ski pretty well .I do tricks on the snow board ramps and I’m great on skis.

Maria

My name is Maria. I live on Long Island and I’m 12 years old.

My favorite things to do are to draw, color, paint; everything that has to do with art. I usually draw animals but mostly dragons and imaginary animals.

My favorite foods are…junk foods! McDonalds, Wendy’s, Burger King, Applebee’s, Chili’s, Chinese food, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, all those greasy places….. But most of all…..lasagna!!! I love lasagna!!! It’s the best of the best!!! But anyway, moving on!

I love to read and write. My favorite book genres are fictional and fantasy. I would mention my favorite books but …they’re just too many!

I like to write fiction stories a lot! I usually get my ideas from the books I read.  I also play the piano. Right now I’m in the middle of learning a song called “Maple Leaf Rag.” It’s really hard, but I’m pretty sure I can finish it by next month.

As all kids, I also love to use the computer and to watch TV. I like playing games on the computer, and again, I won’t mention them because the list is just too long. I also like making PowerPoint presentations, animations in Flash, drawing on Paint and just browsing on the internet.

My favorite TV shows are: cartoons, anime, series, documentaries, and anything else that is close or similar to that. One of my most favorite TV shows is: Extreme Home Makeover. It’s very entertaining to watch.

I enjoy school very much and I have many good classmates. My favorite subject is science because I get to do many experiments and the research is very interesting. I like social studies because I read and learn about important events in history, and writer’s workshop, because I get to write my own stories, which I like. (But not when I have to write essays. Yuck!) I dislike essays. And reader’s workshop, because I get to read the books I want! I also do very well in school and always get A+ mostly in……. everything!

When I signed up for Technology Club, my teacher, Mrs. Gorman, taught me how to do animation with Adobe Flash. That’s why I got interested in doing Think Quest. You might say I’m one of the artists and writers of the site. I got a lot of help from Bridget, Savannah and my friend Valerie. They’re good people to work with and they’re my buddies!
