Action Required

Introduction

            As expressed in other parts of this website, Bhopal requires much help to recover from the gas tragedy, even though it happened over twenty years ago. There is quite a lot lacking in regards to infrastructure, education, and sanitation and medication.

 Education

             The main solution to all of these problems would be to implement a more accessible education system. Many of the children do not have access to a school, or education, so therefore certain job opportunities that do not require the physical endurance, compared to the jobs which do not require an education are unavailable to the children of Bhopal. Education would also open up many jobs to the people of Bhopal, and raise its economy, making the average annual income higher, and therefore lowering prices on merchandise on the markets for Bhopali people. Education would also enlighten many of Bhopal's people on the situation of Bhopal itself, as lack of education is sometimes one that hinders their understanding of the full extent and nature of the situation in Bhopal. Even though most people understand the reason for their sickness, and other disabilities, and their children's' birth defects are due to the consumption and usage of the polluted water, most of them don't understand why, or how to fix the problem, which again leads to the fact that education is something that needs to addressed.

Infrastructure

             Infrastructure is also something not present in Bhopal that should be to more effectively fight the adverse effects of the tragedy. Many of the roads are still dirt, and unpaved making it hard for citizens to travel to places throughout Bhopal. Their poor infrastructure is a key component to drive out possible business in Bhopal, as it is unappealing, and something that calls for lack of incentive. Lastly, lack of infrastructure causes open sewage in certain places, and is very bad, sanitation-wise, so to improve the infrastructure would be much more cleanly, and beneficial to the health.

Clean Water- The Root of this Problem

              Of course, the biggest help besides education, would be to give the people of Bhopal a water purifying system, or access to clean water, and sanitary conditions for the water. Then the whole problem for the people would be solved for future generations. For already existent generations however, access to better, more practical, and more storable medicine would be a solution definitely needed too, as most people cannot acquire as much medicine as always needed.

Medical Care

            There are plenty of survivors that are in need of medical benefits and care. Without it, a lot of family members who are healthy, instead of spending all their time caring for family, they could actually go out and make a living- which would be beneficial to families as well. There are many people who could be in much better conditions than they are, if there has just been more, and more accessible medical treatment and care.
