Bhopal Medical Appeal & Sambhavna Trust The most important clinic to the region of Bhopal is the Sambhavna Trust Clinic. Funded by the Bhopal Medical Appeal, this center is dedicated to providing better medical situations and improving the lives of the citizens of Bhopal. As a non-profit organization, they rely on external donations and campaign successes for funding. One of the things that this clinic does is to create all natural, homegrown medicines that work just as well as their commercial equivalents. They have an herb garden, and a medicine making room, and special technology that they apply to the natural ingredients to create pills, and medical substances. They also house volunteers who donate their time to treating the survivors, and complete internships, while lobbying for better rights for the citizens. They carry out research to better the conditions caused by the gas leak, and try to create new medicines that will more effectively treat the diseases. Another thing that the people of this clinic do, is to treat patients with ayurvedic therapy, and yoga which concentrate on methods which calm and soothe the body. The Sambhavana Trust Clinic was established soon after the gas tragedy happened and besides growing, mixing, and distributing medicines, lobbying for the rights of the citizens, and researching to develop new and better cures for the relevant diseases, they lecture and raise awareness on the situation of Bhopal and its citizens. The work of charities has been to set up clinics and shelters for survivors of the tragedy. However, because the tragedy is not a big issue in global topics today, SOS Children Worldwide has set up something called Village Bhopal that is located 8 kilometers from the city center. This village consists of 16 family houses, two youth houses, and a school. This center provides shelter for orphans and abandoned children. The Indian Red Cross also donated money and time towards helping build a hospital especially for Bhopali survivors, using five million dollars that Union Carbide had donated to the Indian Red Cross in order to take steps towards solving the problems of Bhopal. Another thing that was created for Bhopal was the International Campaign for Justice in Bhopal which, as its name states, campaigns for the rights of Bhopal through a website that details current topics and happenings in Bhopal, and tries to raise awareness through it.
